My Decade in Music So Far: Zach Kelly

This week, Pitchfork shared lists featuring the best albums and tracks of the decade so far. We asked Pitchfork writers and editors to share a favorite song and album that didn't make the list, along with a music highlight and their personal Top 10s or 20s. Check back for more installments of My Decade in Music So Far.

Women: Public Strain [Jagjaguwar]

I partially blame myself, in that I ranked it at 67 on my personal ballot. I put it on late one night last weekend on a whim, and was totally blown away (again). The fact that it's only one of two records the band ever made (or ever will make, sadly) makes it all the more precious. So be a pal and go fire it up on Spotify for me right now.

Also: Hot Chip's In Our Heads, Cold Cave's Cherish the Light Years, Colin Stetson's New History Warfare Vol. 3, Haxan Cloak's Excavation. What is wrong with you people?

Chief Keef: "Citgo" [Interscope]

Chalk it up to vote-splitting between "Don't Like" and "Love Sosa", but the omission of Chief Keef's "Citgo" is an absolute tragedy. And where's "Move That Dope"? Hopefully its inclusion on our 2014 year-end list will make up for this most disrespectful oversight.

Musical Highlight of the Last Five Years: The perks we music writer folk are privy to are nothing short of embarrassing-- free record promos, guest list spots to shows, people calling you an asshole on Twitter. In the past five years, I've seen countless acts (ranging from turnt to turgid), traveled overseas (don't ask me how I managed to land myself on the 2011 Nordic Music Prize jury in Oslo), and enjoyed all the cold brews festival VIP sections allow. But my highlight would have to be my wedding reception last year. The sight of almost everyone you've ever loved getting down to some of your favorite songs of all-time is eternal.
